Christie Antique Show: Spring 2014
I have been looking for an umbrella stand for a while now… wasn’t looking for a particular style or material. I didn’t want to buy something new, only vintage. Once again, finding an umbrella stand was my goal going into the Christie Antique Show and I found one for $25! It is a copper stand with a brass tag. It arrived from Holland the week before which was cool because Matt’s family is from Holland – I always love finding some kind of connection with my vintage finds. When Matt saw it, he said he wanted to sell it for scrap metal…that wasn’t happening.
I was also looking out for items that I could put in my dining room. To see what I have in mind, have a look at my Pinterest board. I found a cool framed print of a building in Florence, Italy for $10 (just a coincidence that the Kimye wedding was happening in Florence that day). There is was even a personal message written on the back. I think I will keep it in the original frame.
I bought a gilded mirrored rectangular tray… I really wasn’t sure about this purchase because they were asking for $30 which hurt after paying only $25 for a cool copper umbrella stand. I decided to get it because it caught my eye and I thought I could either hang it in the dining room or use it on a table in either the dining room or our bedroom.
I also bought a vintage map of the area I grew up in and 2 newspaper ads from the 50’s. I have never seen this booth with the ads but I loved looking through them (Matt and I are huge fans of Mad Men) and so did my Mom. I think I will hang them in our basement once we finish it.
I think I did pretty well this year. It was a great day, I definitely didn’t dress the part and was slowly peeling off clothes as I went through the aisles but it was worth it. My brother also came to see what this show was all about it and he enjoyed it.
Here are some items I left behind.. I’ll leave it to you to decide what I thought was cool and what I would have buried or hid in my shed.
Did you find anything at the show last weekend?
