My friend and I hosted a nautical themed baby shower for our friend (who is expecting a boy) that we have known since kindergarten. That’s almost 30 years, pretty crazy! She and her husband love boating, so it was pretty easy to pick nautical as the theme for the shower.
As the guests arrived, they had to guess how many lifesaver mints were in the mason jar. They also had to guess the due date with a stamp on a calendar and write their name on the framed ultrasound picture.
After everyone arrived we served a light lunch and dessert while the mom-to-be opened presents. If you haven’t thrown a baby shower, don’t worry… it’s very doable if you are organized and prepared. One tip, serve lemonade… I have hosted a few showers in the summer and lemonade is a huge hit.
For decoration, you can never go wrong with balloons, I love having them part of a baby/bridal shower. I bought this paper garland from Etsy, made a nautical flag banner (I’ll post a how-to later), printed (free) nautical maps to use on the food tables, bought fresh flowers and did my own chalkboard message. Make sure you visit your local dollar store for decor, you never know what you can find.
While looking for nautical clip-art for this post, I found some free clip-art and food labels for a nautical shower over at My Sister’s Suitcase!! I didn’t think there would be free printables for a shower, now I know for next time!
It was a lot of fun celebrating a new baby on the way, I can’t wait to meet the little guy!
