Last month our baby turned 1! Hard to believe… when I was pregnant, everyone would tell me that it goes by so fast so try to enjoy every stage. Now that 1 year has flown by I can really understand what everyone meant. I wanted to celebrate this big milestone with all of our family and friends by throwing Nathan a fun birthday party.
I looked through Pinterest and just couldn’t find anything that appealed to me until I saw some fun birthday pictures via Small Orchard. It was perfect – fun, colourful and casual. I wanted it to be a backyard picnic party but the weather wasn’t too great so most of it had to be indoors. Check out my Pinterest board for the birthday party.
With the help of my mom, I made the fabric bunting banners. Filled the rooms and backyard with colourful balloons. Guests were greeted at the door with a first birthday chalkboard poster from Etsy.
We served everyone sliders, hotdogs, pasta salad, coleslaw and home fries. (Liners from Etsy / Paper cones from Fort & Field). We then filled the table with desserts including, homemade empire cookies, cupcakes, and cookies.
I found a beautiful antique high chair at the last Christie Antique Show to use for Nathan’s first birthday cake. It was only $50!
We gave out homemade apple butter as favours to the adults and made up loot bags for the kids with toys from Mastermind Toys.
Happy Birthday, Little Man!
